Sunset bike rides, new hair & catch ups

We have slowly been getting around to catching up with friends. The boys have had a great time enjoying being kids again & playing with their friends. It really is so special to see them having fun, like like ive said before, it really is the simple things in life that are the best!

We have also been going for rides in the evenings as part of Kaden’s physio therapy. We had some fun last night taking sunset photos. We truly do live in a beautiful place!

Kaden’s hair has started to grow back too, check out these eyelashes & eyebrows 😃

We have also been encouraging Kaden to take all his meds orally instead of down the tube (much to his dislike) so that we can take it out.

Australia Day

Today was a pretty quiet one for us. Kaden woke up feeling pretty miserable so we cancelled our plans as he relaxed & recovered at home.

Tonight after dinner, he surprised us saying that he felt better & was up for a bike ride. He did so well. Upon arriving at the park, what did we see? A family playing cricket! Kaden being the social butterfly was off his bike & joining in the game. We have have met so many new families at our local park. It’s great that the boys are meeting more friends & are able to join in the fun 😃

Weekly Checkup & Physio

Over the last few weeks the boys have had a great time playing together as Kaden’s strength, speed & balance improves 😃

We have been attending the liver clinic & oncology weekly for Kaden’s check ups. Both teams are happy with Kaden’s numbers 😃

We are excited that Kaden will be starting school with Liam next week. The boys are both looking forward to going to school & seeing all their friends again 😃

Day 3 of tests

We have finished day 3 of tests. Kaden wasn’t too happy today. The canula they left in his hand to draw blood out today, kept hitting a valve making it really tough to draw blood. The nurses had to wiggle the needle each time causing him pain, add the flush to this & he was at his wits end. This had to be done every hour for 4 hours! This is just one of the tests a child has to indure during & after treatment 😢 Kaden was happy to be leaving 😃

Port Removal

Today marks a huge step in Kaden’s recovery. As I write this, Kaden is in surgery having his port removed (the thing that was needled when he was having chemo, IV antibiotics etc administered). Although this is a small operation compared to what he has been through, as a parent I feel anxious waiting for him to arrive in recovery.

Week of tests

This week we have a busy week of follow up tests for Kaden & lots of early mornings.

The boys have had a great weekend. They have been busy playing in the pool & numerous Xbox games. Their favourite one is “just dance” which is great as it gets both of them up moving 😃

We have also encouraged the boys to get back on their bikes! They have both been a bit nervous about it even tho we explained the saying “just like riding a bike” 😃 With a bit more persistence tonight, the boys did great 😃 Over the last few nights we have seen the same family at our local park. Tonight they had the cricket stumps set up & it drew Kaden’s attention, so off he went and joined in. Think it might be time to invest in our own set 😃

Oncology visit & Exercise

We set off very early on Wednesday morning for Kaden’s MRI & oncology visit. Overall the meeting went well. He’s got lots of follow up tests to do next week CT, audiology etc. From these tests & discussion with the liver team, they will decide if they will put him on an oral drug for 6-12 months as an extra precaution.

Being such nice weather, we decided to venture out & get fish n chips on the beach. While waiting, the boys had a play at the park. Kaden is coming along in leaps & bounds, he climbed the rock wall, slide & was even balancing on the ropes. After a little while he spotted a boy & his mum playing cricket & said he wanted to play. They family was really lovely & let him join in. Before we knew it, other kids at the park also wanted to join in. It was so good to see Kaden enjoying being a normal kid 😃
