Kaden’s surgery

Yesterday we met with Kaden’s surgeons. What we thought was going to be key hole surgery has now turned out to be major surgery. They will be making an incision on either side of Kaden’s back to access his lungs to make sure there is no living cancer left. If any cancer is found, they will cut it out. Without this operation & confirming all the cancer is dead, the doctors can not put Kaden on the liver transplant waiting list. Once the surgery is completed, Kaden will be placed into ICU to ensure his pain is managed. This operation is booked to take place around lunch time tomorrow.

Due to the change in the lung operation & Kaden requiring a transplant, we will now be staying in Sydney for months instead of weeks!

We are slowly getting our heads around the operation’s & Sydney being our home for a while but like Lee & I say, this is just the next step to getting Kaden healthy & cancer free.

  1. Finn, Lee, Kaden & Liam,

My prayers go out to you all for very successful surgery on Kaden tomorrow. This young man of yours has gone through so much since he was first diagnosed, as have you Finn and Lee as his parents and Liam supporting his brother. I think of you all ever so often since that first day we met in the passageway on 9th floor of PMH and of the journey you have all had to follow. Following this surgery may it not be long before Kaden can have his liver transplant, and you all be able to come home.

God will be with you all and be a loving support – though when the chips are down we don’t always see this. As I said I am praying for you all and wish that I was close by to again give you a hug Finn.

  2. I am sending you all so many hugs and prayers. As hard as it is, try to stay strong. Your little man is such a fighter. He will beat this xxx

  3. Hi Kaden

We’ve never met, but I met your Mum and Dad in pre-natal classes at the Angliss Hospital just before your little brother was born. In some of those classes your Mum and Dad talked about how tiny you were when you were born, but how tough you were. I can see from the photos that you’re even tougher now!

Even though we’ve never met, my husband Cedric and I often think about you and hope you are doing really well. Cedric was diagnosed with brain cancer 8 years ago, so he’s also been through surgery, radiation and chemo. It certainly wasn’t fun, but it really helped him. He’s fit and strong again. We can’t wait to hear that you’re also finished with your treatments and surgery and are feeling fit and strong too!

Take care of yourself, and let your mum, dad and brother know that we think they’re amazing too.

    1. P.S. It’s Katy again. Please ignore the name that this was sent from ‘somepeoplearejustjerks’ – I’m using my sister’s computer and that’s obviously the alias she uses! I’m not very good at technology, so I don’t know how to change it 🙂
